PANJIM: Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) on Saturday shut down operations of Krishna Food and Beverages, an unlicensed packaged drinking water unit, for operating under unhygienic conditions in Assagao, Bardez.
The unit was found manufacturing packaged drinking water without a FDA licence under the Food Safety and Standards Act. Also, the operation was carried out under unhygienic conditions by non-technical staff.
The firm has been issued a notice under section 31 of the Food Safety Act for operating without license and also inspection notice for operating under unhygienic conditions and is directed to stop the operations forthwith and not to resume the activities till a licence is obtained from the directorate.
Material has been seized, further investigations will be carried out and legal action will follow.
