PANJIM: Directorate of Food & Drug Administration Tuesday directed closing down two bakeries at Thvim and Sanquelim after they were found violating hygiene norms.
In a statement, FDA said that Tivim based ‘Major Bakery’ was operating under unhygienic conditions and could not produce a valid FSSSI license. “Prior to the spot inspection, a notice pointing out deficiencies and a show cause notice was served. However, they failed to comply with the directions,” the statement said.
In another raid, Bangalore New Iyengar bakery at Sanquelim was also found operating without FSSAI licence. Officials also found that banned bromate based improver was being used. Also, one of the workers was suffering from a viral flu and had injuries on his hand. Both bakeries were immediately shut down pending inquiry and further orders.
