MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council (MMC) on Monday assured to put the much-needed mechanism in place to prevent inconvenience caused to the public due to the faceast fair.
Chief Officer Gaurish Sankhwalkar held a meeting with officials of the civic body and issued instructions after the locals raised several issues pertaining to the feast fair.
For the last two years, the civic body has been organising the fair at Margao in a systematic manner, and this year too, all precautions will be taken with proper planning, assured MMC chairperson Damodar Shirodkar.
“The Chief Officer on Monday held a meeting to deliberate on the issue to ensure proper planning and implementation. Taking into consideration the issues raised by the locals, we have been monitoring the feast fair on a daily basis,” he claimed.
He said special teams of the civic body are on duty to take stock of the situation.
It may be recalled that a few days ago Savio Dias, a resident of Madel, had written a letter to the civic body, besides other authorities concerned wherein he had brought to their notice the inconvenience caused by the feast fair and called for implementing the High Court directives.
Dias has accused the MMC and other authorities of faailing to implement the court’s directives over the past nine years which led to grave hardships for the general public at the venue.
