CANACONA: The feast of St Francis Xavier was celebrated with religious fervour, as people from other faith too joined in prayers at the Bhatpal Church in Canacona on Tuesday.
The main celebrant for the feast mass was Fr Donato Rodgrieus and the mass was concelebrated by six other priests, including Bhatpal Parish Priest Fr Alvito Almeida and other priests from Agonda, Loliem and Galgibaga parishes of Canacona deanery.
In his homily, Fr Rodrigues highlighted the need not to fall prey to worldly merits, but each one should build individual’s life on heavenly richness.
“Live the life and character of Francis Xavier,” Fr Rodrigues preached.
Besides the parishioners of Bhatpal church, hundreds of devotees from all over the taluka and neighbouring Karwar district of Karnataka attended the feast, besides attending the novenas for the last few days.
