Feast of St Joseph Vaz celebrated at old Church Sancoale

The Old Church in Sancoale witnessed a vibrant celebration of the St. Joseph Vaz feast, marked by profound religious fervour. Nearly 1 lakh devotees gathered at the church to offer prayers and seek blessings during the festive occasion. Goa celebrates the feast of its very own homegrown saint, St Joseph Vaz, on January 16 every year at Sancoale.

“The attendance shows people’s concern and love for St. Joseph Vaz, and this place. I’m hopeful that the love for St. Joseph Vaz increases in people’s hearts. People should keep coming here in large numbers,” stated Fr Kenneth Telles, the Parish Priest of Sancoale.

Emphasising communal harmony, another priest stated, “Goans should also live in communal harmony. Hindus, Catholics, and Muslims have been living in brotherhood and unity for years, and this unity must be protected.”
