MARGAO: Gawda Kunbi Velip and Dhangar (GAKUVED) Federation on Monday condemned the suspension of six WRD staff in the Poonam Pandey obscene video case at Chapoli Dam by protesting in front of department office at Rawanfond.
Federation’s general secretary Rupesh Velip said, “These workers belonging to ST community have been suspended in connection with an obscene video shoot of Pandey.”

“The 6 workers have been suspended for no offence of theirs. The police claim that the video was shot early morning while these workers joined duty on that day after the video shoot,” he claimed.
He alleged that the government has made these workers scapegoats and demanded that action be taken against the engineers who are in charge of the Chapoli Dam.
The in-charge WRD official informed that a one-man commission has been appointed to probe the matter and once the police submit the report the commission will deliver its verdict on the suspension within a week.
The official also clarified that they have not given any permission to any person or organisation for the video shoot at the dam.
