MARGAO: Citizens need to be alert and cautious with regard to the Coronavirus as the monsoon season started. Nobody should ignore the symptoms such as fever and cold in monsoon, because it can be led to serious infections that may result in COVID positive cases, stated Nodal Officer of South Goa District Hospital Dr Rajesh Patel.
He said that the decline in COVID positive cases does not mean Coronavirus is not there anymore.
“In last few days, we have noticed a decline in COVID positive cases, besides admissions of COVID patients in the hospital. Besides, the death rate of COVID patients has also come down. However, this does not mean that there is no more Coronavirus,” he stated.
Dr Patel said all the citizens need to take the vaccine jabs and be on the safer side. Besides, all the COVID protocols should be followed strictly.
“Rain will start pouring down and naturally we will notice cases of fever and cold. But, the people should not take this as normal because this can result in COVID infection in the body. An immediate swab test will be the best option to rule out the COVID infection,” he added.
He further said nobody should think that the fever and cold are because of rain.
“The third wave of COVID-19 will definitely come and it may affect us at any time. And hence, before that, all should take preventive measures, especially all must take the jabs,” he appealed.
Dr Rajesh informed that the District Hospital also has obstetrics and gynaecology wards, to date, admitted nearly 200 obstetrics.
“At the time of COVID-19, the pregnancy is considered as a risk factor. But, here in this hospital, we are taking care of pregnant ladies by giving proper treatment so that COVID does not affect their pregnancy. We take the pregnant ladies in the ICU when found COVID complications and treatment is given to them,” he stated.
