PANJIM: Goa Sports Minister Govind Gaude affirmed that the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held in India.
Gaude speaking in the context of the FIFA ban on India because of AIFF not conforming to its diktats, said here on Monday: “It would be incorrect to say that the U-17 Women’s World Cup has been taken away from the country.”
“The Government is working on a plan. The Supreme Court has postponed the AIFF elections by a short period and the organising committee and FIFA are working on ensuring the World Cup would be held on schedule in India.”
Sports Minister Govind Gaude kept the ante up, saying that the outstanding of Rs 46 lakh to sportspersons would be cleared. These included payments to national and international players.
