Film makers want prime time slot for Konkani films

PANJIM: The Goa Film Finance Action Committee (GFFAC) on Wednesday stated that the State government should intervene and reserve the prime time slot for Konkani films in theatres.

PANJIM: The Goa Film Finance Action Committee (GFFAC) on Wednesday stated that the State government should intervene and reserve the prime time slot for Konkani films in theatres.
“The committee feels that government should reserve a 6.30 pm prime time slot for Konkani films in theatres across Goa. It is the same in Maharashtra, where the government has set up certain guidelines that 6.30 pm prime time slot be given to Marathi films,” GFFAC Convenor Swapnil Shetkar said. “Entertainment Society of Goa has also drafted a proposal to reserve prime time slot for Konkani films,” he added.
He said the new film finance scheme will help young filmmakers as the Konkani film industry is in the growing stage. “Only if the government supports filmmakers, the Konkani film industry will flourish otherwise it will collapse.”
He said that currently 20 Konkani films are in the post production stage, of which eight are set to release in December.
GFFAC also sought the government’s intervention to relax the business margin between producers and theatre owners making it at least 50 percent for producers and 50 percent for theatre owners in the third week of release.
