Filth surrounds Mapusa shuttle service counter

PORVORIM, SEPT 16
The area near the shuttle service booking counter at Kadamba bus stand, Mapusa has become filthy due to accumulation of rainwater.
The filthy water, collected in front of the shuttle service booking counter, makes it difficult for the public to go to the counter to purchase tickets.
To make matters worse, the ground has become slippery, due to which people slip while wading through the water.
Further, when vehicles pass through the water, the filth is splashed on public, thus making their clothes dirty. The water-logging has occurred because these roads are not tarred in a professional way. The water instead of flowing down the drain gets accumulated at the bus stand.
It may be recalled that Philip D’Souza of Shiv Sena in a letter to the managing director of Kadamba Transport Corporation on April 6 had warned of water logging at the bus stand during monsoons, but the KTC failed to take any action.
On June 17, Shiv Sena again brought to the notice of KTC about water logging, but in vain.
Speaking to Herald, D’Souza said it is the duty of the KTC to provide clean and safe bus stand for the public, who are paying taxes to the government.
“Thousand of tourists visit Goa during monsoon and the pathetic state of the bus stand paint a sorry image of Goa. The Kadamba Transport authorities should take necessary steps immediately and attend to the water logging problem on priority basis,” said D’Souza.
