Final bidding for Mopa airport to be opened on August 26

PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar told reporters on Sunday the final bidding for the proposed Green field airport at Mopa will be opened on August 26. It won't be delayed further, he said.

Parsekar was speaking on the sidelines of a function at Institute Menezes Braganza here.
“There were five bidders and two of them wanted some more time, so in view of healthy competition, we decided to postpone it by four weeks,” Parsekar said.
He said the bidding was postponed only after taking the commitment from both the bidders to participate. “We decided to postpone it so that we would get a good rate and have fair competition,” he added.
“The two bidders were supposed to quit the process if we didn’t postpone it,” Parsekar said.
The CM said the foundation stone of Mopa airport will be laid in the second half of September as scheduled.
He said the first chief minister Bhahusaheb (Dayanand) Bandodkar’s name was given to many projects in the state while answering to a query from the media.
