Final Electoral eRoll for Goa will be published by January 3

PANJIM: Goa Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ramesh Varma on Monday said that the final Goa electoral eRoll will be published by January 3, 2023.

Verma said Goa is the first State in the country where the system migration is in progress from the old software to the new software of the Election Commission of India (ECI), New Delhi. People are being allowed to presently submit their claims and objections online and offline.

Goa was selected as the pilot project for the software migration. He said that many facilities are under process and due to some issues people were not able to submit their forms online and they were also given option to submit their form offline.

Varma said so far 5379 Form 6 have been received for inclusion of names in the voter’s list besides Form 6A for linking of Aadhar Card to Voter ID Card, Form 7 for deletion of names and Form 8 for change of address or change of constituency.

Verma said the process of disposing claims and objections have started from December 1 and it will be completed by December 20 and the final electoral E-Roll will be published on January 3.

According to Verma, presently there has been 62 per cent linkage of Aadhar Card with Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC), even as it is not mandatory. He also said linkage of Voter IDs with Aadhar Card will reduce duplication of Voter ID cards.

Earlier, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) held a meeting with the representatives of the political parties and briefed them about the status of the ongoing special summary revision of electoral rolls in the State.
