MARGAO: Finally, payments of all the 11 three-wheeler scooters sanctioned under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLED) scheme have been released to the concerned dealer and hence beneficiaries who are persons with disabilities hope that they will get their bikes very soon.
An official from the South Goa District Collectorate office has informed O Heraldo, that the process of releasing the payment to the concerned dealer has been completed successfully.
Recently, in a case of utter humiliation, 11 persons with disabilities (PwDs) from South Goa district were not delivered the three-wheeler scooters sanctioned under MPLAD Scheme as the dealer claimed that payments were not made to him for the same.
It was learnt that the concerned office looking after the scheme were finding it difficult to handle the new portal introduced by the union government.
The beneficiaries were asked to return the scooters to the showroom for not completing the payment process.
South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha stated that it was unfortunate that such things would happen and accused the administration of lacking seriousness.
On Monday, an official from the District Collectorate office said that all the three-wheelers will be handed over to the beneficiaries as the process of payment is completed.
However, as informed by the reliable sources, few of the beneficiaries are yet to complete their process of registration which was kept pending due to the non-payment from the government side.
“I received a call on Monday asking to visit the office and complete the remaining process before taking possession of the three-wheeler,” said one of the beneficiaries from Salcete taluka.
