PONDA: In prompt action, the Power Department quickly fitted the cover of the open transformer at Curti, Ponda, after O Heraldo tweeted that the transformer was lying open and posed danger to people. The transformer is located near the Sahakari Spice Farm in Curti.
Earlier, the transformer was open and exposed for an extended period, posing potential hazards to both humans and animals. The situation has garnered attention due to the possibility of electric shock.
The open transformer, left unattended for many days, had become a cause for concern among the local community. Residents feared that the exposed transformer not only invited danger to humans but also posed a threat to animals in the area.
The locals had for long urged the authorities concerned to address the situation promptly by securing and enclosing the open transformer. They emphasised the need for urgent action to mitigate the risks associated with the exposed electrical equipment.
