MARGAO: More than 17 months after it was constituted by the government, the South Goa District Planning Committee (DPC) will finally meet for the first time on October 18.
The meeting, however, is only expected to take stock of the requirements to put the draft district development plan in place, as dark clouds are hovering over the DPC’s functioning in view of the absence of basic statistical data to carry out planning process.
South Goa ZP Chairperson Nelly Rodrigues, who is the Chairperson of the DPC, said South Goa MP, besides all the MLAs from the district have been invited for the meeting to give their suggestions and views on how to make the DPC functional.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of
the repeated failures by the DPC, South, to prepare a draft development plan for the district.
