PANJIM: In view of the improving coronavirus situation in the State, nearly all schools will resume regular physical classes for students of Class 1 to 12 from Monday onwards with all COVID-19 protocols in place.
The reopening of schools comes at a short notice and with the academic year 2021-22 soon coming to an end, the Education Department said uniforms will not be mandatory and concession in timings may be given to students during the initial days of offline classes.
Due to the nationwide lockdown following a spurt in cases during the first wave of the pandemic, the educational institutions remained shut.
When the lockdown was eased months later, schools remained closed across the country. Some educational institutions over the past two years attempted to reopen, but successive waves thwarted their efforts. Eventually higher classes besides colleges had reopened.
With the full-fledged reopening of schools in Goa, students will now get an opportunity to switch from online classes which they attended for over 600 days to physical mode.
The schools were seen doing all the arrangements following the order of the government to reopen classes in physical mode mid last week.
