Finally, nod for IIT campus construction

PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Wednesday granted sanction for constructing the Indian Institute Technology (IIT) campus in Guleli, Sattari. 

Sawant handed over the sanctioned documents for construction of IIT to Skill Development Minister Vishwajit Rane in the presence of IIT Director B K Mishra, Education secretary Nila Mohanan and others. 

Rane on social media said that the campus will facilitate around 5,000 people, which will in turn, boost the economy of Sattari and neighbouring areas in a big way. “This prestigious body of knowledge (IIT) holds a massive reputation and it will get Goa on the educational map of the country,” the Minister said. 

He said that being one amongst the top in the country, the IIT will raise the standard of education, nurture innovation and entrepreneurship.

“Coming into Goa, IIT will not only be a strategic bridge between various stakeholders but strengthen the ecosystem of the neighbouring areas of Sattari and Usgao,” he said, adding that the facility will help create job opportunities.
