PONDA: Khandepar locals have demanded construction of a box culvert below the road at Opa junction here for proper rain water drainage system.
The road here used to flood in the monsoon due to lack of proper drainage system.
The land filling was done for construction of approach road of NH due to which the traditional nullah which served as a storm water drain ceased to exist. Though NH made provision to drain water, it was away from junction which led to flooding in the area. Two houses here were the casualties every monsoon.
Sandeep Parkar said that in 2020, he made follow up with authorities as a result of which today NH has began work on construction of box culvert at Opa junction at approach road site.
The excavation work has begun for construction of box culvert. Sandeep Parkar said there was a need for drainage of rain water coming down at Opa junction from MIBK School and Kerya. The rain water at Opa junction would pass though box culvert into nullah which finally drains into Khandepar river.
He said he was constantly doing follow up for construction of box culvert below approach road and considering the need the NH authorities began work on box culvert.
