Financial package for Goa in three months: Parrikar

PANJIM: Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, speaking at the BJP state executive meeting, told party workers that Goa would get a financial package in the next three months. He said that this package had been promised by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and it would help to succour people involved in mining as well as strengthen the State’s financial position.

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, speaking on the amendments to the Tenancy Act said that government was open to other amendments if required. The sunset clause can be expanded, he said adding that the clause was amended in the interest of the tenants and if they felt that it was against them then they were free to come up with suggestions.
Parsekar also repeated that his ministers would have to perform on their own steam as he would not handhold them like Parrikar.
Meanwhile, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee office bearers also held a meeting and reviewed the ongoing membership drive. General Secretaries and secretaries responsible for their respective blocks submitted their interim reports to the GPCC President. The Chintan Shibir will be held on December 13 and 14, 2014. M K Sheikh presented the outline of the Chintan Shibir to the Office Bearers present for the meeting.
