PANJIM, JULY 26
Fiona Mackeown, mother of the deceased daughter Scarlett Keeling Eden is certain to depose before the Children’s Court on July 30, her lawyer said.
Fiona who launched campaign seeking justice to her teenage daughter will arrive in Goa on Tuesday evening.
Children’s Court, earlier this month had issued her summons to testify in this case wherein 18 of the total 72 witnesses are already examined.
“Fiona will arrive in India to assist the court in prosecution. She will give all the information she has,” her legal representative Vikram Varma said.
Scarlett’s semi covered bruised corpse was found on Anjuna shore in February 18, 2008 following which Samson D’Souza and Placido Carvalho were booked for drugging, raping and leaving the teenage girl to die on the shore.
After initial investigation by Goa Police, the case was handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that reduced charges of homicide to culpable homicide not amounting to murder and rape to outraging modesty of a woman.
Scarlett’s local boyfriend Julio Lobo, crucial witness Murli Sagar, other locals and policemen are among those who are testified so far.
Sagar, a youth from Mumbai working in the beach shack adjacent to the spot where Scarlet’s body was found, had identified both the accused in the court.
