FIR against Pratima for revealing identity of molestation victim

PANJIM: Women’s Police Station has finally registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee president Pratima Coutinho and four others under POCSO and Juvenile Justice Act, 2012 for revealing identity of a minor molestation victim.

PANJIM: Women’s Police Station has finally registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee president Pratima Coutinho and four others under POCSO and Juvenile Justice Act, 2012 for revealing identity of a minor molestation victim.
The FIR has named Coutinho, Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee vice president Savitri Kavlekar, Netravali Deputy Sarpanch Abhijit Desai and panchas Vitthal Gaonkar and Prakash Bhagat.
All the accused are booked under Section 34 of Indian Penal Code (common intention), Section 74 of Juvenile Justice Act and Section 23 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Shiv Sena Goa Vice President Rakhi Prabhudesai Naik had filed the complaint against all the accused for revealing identity of a 17-year-old girl, who is a victim of a molestation by a Jharkhand native in Sanguem taluka.
It may be recalled that Coutinho along with other accused had visited the village on July 8, 2018 and thereafter had circulated the message on social media revealing identity of the victim’s mother.
