According to the FIR, while Velip was proceeding on his scooter to his residence at Avali in Cotigao, the minister blocked him with his official car at Tin Talya Gudkakle and assaulted the complainant. According to Velip, the minister also threatened him with dire consequences.
Velip was reportedly assaulted by Tawadkar for allegedly delivering a speech against the minister at a function organised by ex-MLA Vijay Pai Khot at his residence, recently.
Around 150 supporters of Vijay Pai Khot had gathered at Canacona Police station shouting slogans against Tawadkar.
Tawadkar has been booked for committing offences under Sections 341, 352 and 506(ii) of IPC.
Meanwhile, ex-minister Isidore Fernandes, who was campaigning to door to door in Canacona for forthcoming Assembly elections, asked the Tawdkar to “stop such goondagiri” in Canacona and maintain peace and harmony.
