The Department has also asked them to install CCTV cameras at the stores and submit the recorded video CD on a daily basis.
The Excise Commissioner, along with his officials, held a meeting with wholesalers from North and South Goa instructing them to strictly follow the guidelines. There are 167 wholesalers in Goa.
“As liquor is used to lure voters, its sale, transport and movement has to be strictly monitored in view of the elections,” Assistant Excise Commissioner Satyawan Bhivshet said.
He said the warning has been issued as sale of liquor for enticing voters should not be entertained. He said the department will monitor the production, purchase and sale of liquor all over the State daily till the election process ends.
“The reports submitted by the wholesalers will be closely scrutinised by Excise officers so that the purpose of conducting the drive will be met,” Bhivshet said.
He added that Excise Department has set up a control room in all talukas which will work 24×7 once the code of conduct is announced. He said all complaints on calls will be dealt immediately by the squad which will be posted in the talukas.
