Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has declined to comment on Union Minister Pralhad Joshi’s recommendation that Karnataka withdraw its Mhadei water dispute case from the Supreme Court, but asserted that Goa would continue to strongly defend its interests on the legal front.
Responding to questions on Joshi’s remarks, Sawant said he would not like to comment on the recommendation, while making it clear that Goa’s legal battle over the Mhadei issue would continue.

“We have fought the case rigorously before the tribunal and the SC and will continue to do so. Our legal team is working on it,” the Chief Minister said.
The Mhadei water dispute between Goa and Karnataka centres on Karnataka’s plans to divert water from the Mhadei river basin through projects including the Kalasa-Bhanduri project.
Goa has consistently opposed the proposed diversion, maintaining that it could have serious implications for the state’s water security and ecological interests.
Sawant’s statement comes amid renewed political discussion over the long-running dispute, with Goa reiterating its commitment to pursuing the matter through the courts.
