Farmers’ organisations from Nargund and Belagavi have warned of a massive protest and a complete shutdown of Belagavi city from August 13 if the Karnataka government fails to take immediate action to revive the stalled Mahadayi-Kalasa Bhanduri project.
The farmers have raised concerns over drought-like conditions prevailing across several districts, saying the situation has severely affected agricultural activities, drinking water availability and livestock.

The organisations have urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Irrigation Minister to intervene and expedite work on the long-pending project, which they say is crucial to addressing water shortages in the affected regions.
