CALANGUTE: Speaker Rajendra Arlekar on Friday described the Fire and Emergency Services as an essential activity where implicit obedience and strict discipline should be maintained for better services to the public.
He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day meeting of the 36th Standing Fire Advisory Council of Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI at Candolim.
The speaker appealed to people to spare some time in training themselves to assist during disasters and emergencies.
“A disaster can be termed as a disturbance of the functioning of society or a community. Therefore, it is important that citizens are trained in disaster reduction programmes and assisting in emergencies,” said Arlekar.
He also asked the delegates to participate and offer concrete suggestions and recommendation for the consideration of the State government.
The two-day event has seminars by experts on the topic of fire safety in social & industrial sectors, besides an exhibition to showcase opportunities to manufacturers of the fire industry to expand their business prospects.
The exhibition has been organized with the aim of introducing and bringing in international technology to encounter the challenges faced by progressively growing India.
