A fire erupted late Thursday near the Assagao Village Panchayat, consuming a house in flames and putting various household items at risk. The blaze, which engulfed electricals, clothing, and appliances, was eventually contained through a combined effort of local residents and later the fire services.
Before the firefighters reached the scene, locals connected a pump to a well and brought the fire under control. The firefighters then arrived on site and contained the fire entirely.
While the fire services played a crucial role in containing the situation, the estimated losses resulting from the fire are approximately Rs 2 lakh. However, properties valued at around Rs 5 lakh were saved.
The exact cause of the fire remains a mystery, prompting authorities to launch an investigation. Among the items affected by the fire were electrical appliances like LED televisions, sound systems, and home theatres, alongside personal belongings such as clothes, a fridge, a cupboard, and a washing machine.
