Fire breaks out in Margao pharmacy

MARGAO: Fire broke out at Hindu Pharmacy in Margao Thursday evening causing fear and panic around the market. A short circuit on the mezzanine floor of the old structure caused a fire and lot of smoke.

MARGAO: Fire broke out at Hindu Pharmacy in Margao Thursday evening causing fear and panic around the market. A short circuit on the mezzanine floor of the old structure caused a fire and lot of smoke. The Fire Brigade was informed immediately and the fire was contained quickly.
The Hindu Pharmacy is one of the oldest establishments in Margao and is attached to several other establishments on both the sides. The owner of the Pharmacy, Amey Prabhudessai, informed that his pharmacy has stock of medicines of over a crore on any given day and by containing the fire a huge loss was averted.
The incident happened at around 6 in the evening when the pharmacy had lots of people inside. The fire broke out in the mezzanine of the shop where several employees were working all day. 
As soon as the fire was spotted, the fire rescue personnel evacuated the employees and also the people in the pharmacy. 
Though the fire personnel brought in two tenders, they used carbon dioxide to contain the fire to avoid damage to medicines.
