MARGAO: A major tragedy was averted, as fire broke out into brake binding of boogie No. S2 of the Ernakulam-Ajmer Marusagar Express.
Konkan Railway Police sourced said on noticing the fire, the passengers in Boogie No s2 alerted the ticket collector and the train was stopped at Tivim Railway Station where the fire was extinguished. Fortunately no one was injured.
Sources said the train had left the Margao Railway Station before reaching Tivim Railway Station when the fire broke out.
PI Sunil Gudlar said after receiving information about the fire, the KR police team along with Railway Police constables Vishal Kerkar and Wasim Shaikh along with RPF officials rushed to the spot and doused the fire using an extinguisher.
PI Gudlar said that no casualties were reported.
