VASCO: Goods worth Rs 2.5 lakh were gutted in a major fire at a factory in the Verna Industrial Estate (VIE) on Tuesday evening. According to Verna fire officer Mathew Vaz, after the fire broke out at the unit workers tried to control it with an extinguisher, but didn’t succeed as there was heavy smoke. A fire team rushed to the site and finally managed to extinguish the fire. Fire fighters suspect that the fire may have been started by some heating machinery, which later spread in the factory.
