PANJIM: In two separate fire accidents, in Panjim and Porvorim, fire personnel initiating prompt action prevented major damages.
Fire officers said the first incident was behind the State secretariat and Assembly building in Porvorim. The Officer said dry grass and bushes had caught fire just behind Assembly, however, a fire tender from Pilerne station reached the spot and controlled it before it could spread further.
In the second incident, there was a fire at Patto-Panjim in a commercial building due to a short circuit. Timely intervention from fire personnel prevented further destruction with the loss of only the main electrical board.
The Officer in-charge said that in the Porvorim case there is no direct loss but in the Patto accident the owner is yet to submit his estimated damage to the department.
