PANJIM: Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services, South Zone, Margao conducted a Basic Fire Safety and Evacuation Drill Procedure for the students and staff of Carmel Higher Secondary School, Nuvem, recently.
Nitin Raiker, deputy director, Fire and Emergency Services, Margao; Sr Marinelle AC, principal of Carmel Higher Secondary School; Rajesh Rajan, president, President of Rotary Club, Margao Midtown; H Gil Souza, station fire officer, Officer In-Charge, Margao Fire Station; Nilesh Lolienkar, Secretary of Rotary Club Margao, Midtown; Adbrona Valandnes, project director; Gilbert Fernandes, treasurer were present.
Nitin briefed on the basic fire safety and evacuation drill procedure to be followed during any fire emergency. H Gil Souza briefed about the various techniques to be used during operation of first aid fire extinguisher. Thereafter, the live fire fighting demonstration was conducted. Damodar Zambaulikar, sub officer, Verna Fire Station. The staff and students also had hands-on experience to extinguish the fire.
