PANJIM: The Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services added two mini rescue tenders to its existing fleet of fire rescue vehicles on Saturday.
The two mini rescue tenders, Director Ashok Menon said, have been procured under the Plan Central Scheme of Modernization of Fire and Emergency Services wherein an amount of Rs 2 crore was sanctioned.
The rescue tenders are equipped with advanced search and rescue equipments such as battery operated combi tool, electrically operated winch with five ton pulling capacity, chemical protective suits, self contained positive pressure breathing apparatus sets, petrol driven rotary rescue saw, electrically operated chipping hammer, hydraulic door opening kit, portable inflatable emergency lighting system, pneumatic lifting air bags, multi gas detectors, cutting and breaking equipment.
“These tenders will be stationed at Fire Station Pernem and Fire Station Mapusa to use in combating emergency and rescue incidents,” Menon said.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar flagged off the specialized vehicles at the department headquarters on Saturday.
