Firearms holders asked to deposit weapons in view of p’yat polls

All the arms licence holders in North Goa district are directed to deposit all their firearms at the nearest police stations.

PANJIM: The North Goa District Magistrate has prohibited the carrying of all types of arms, fire arms, ammunition, lethal weapons in any public place, street, road squares, thoroughfare, by-lanes, or in any open place in the entire district of North Goa with immediate effect until further orders in view of Panchayat elections.

All the arms licence holders in North Goa district are directed to deposit all their firearms at the nearest police stations of their respective jurisdiction immediately on or before July 21. All the firearms deposited will be returned to the licence holders after five days from counting ie after the Panchayat election process is over.

If any person has a real threat to his or her person/ property, he/ she should approach the Director General of Police (DGP) for providing necessary security by the police.
