Firemen rescue woman from atop flyover pillar in Dabolim

While commuters were confused as to how she managed to climb up there, local taxi drivers said there was an open manhole at the beginning of the flyover, which leads to the tunnel-like space between the flyover and its pillars.

DABOLIM: A woman from Karwar was rescued by fire brigade personnel after she was spotted sitting in the hollow atop a pillar, high above the ground, of the grade separator flyover near the Dabolim International Airport. While commuters were confused as to how she managed to climb up there, local taxi drivers said there was an open manhole at the beginning of the flyover, which leads to the tunnel-like space between the flyover and its pillars.

Fire officer Chetan Honnaverkar said they got a call at 8.30 am about a woman on the pillar, trying to commit suicide. “We rushed to the site and rescued her using a ladder. The lady claims she does not know how she reached there,” he said “Someone brought me here saying that I will get work and robbed me. I don’t have any money,” said the woman, who appeared confused.
