VALPOI: The ongoing cashew season played a role in voter turnout to the three ZP constituencies of Honda, Nagargao and Keri, as a large number of people exercised their franchise during the second half of the day.
All 76 booths in the ZP constituencies of Sattari taluka witnessed peaceful polling on Wednesday.
The low voter turnout in the morning session was attributed to the cashew season, where many people earn their livelihood. The voters, however, turned out in large numbers from 2 pm onwards.
When contacted, Valpoi PI Sanjay Dalvi informed that no poll-related case was reported at Valpoi police station on Tuesday and Wednesday, confirming that elections were peaceful.
According to sources from the mamlatdar office, the voter turnout was 74.64 per cent in Honda ZP constituency, 78.20 per cent in Keri ZP constituency and 79.40 per cent in Nagargao ZP constituency.
