PANJIM: Providing a major boost in delivering public services, Revenue Department is set to launch the State’s first Common Service Centre (CSC) in Margao this month, an interactive platform that would then be covered across all talukas and villages.
“This will be a facilitation service centre and an interactive platform not only for Revenue services but services throughout government departments. After studying the pros and cons for one month and monitoring the delivery of services, CSC will be created across 12 talukas,” Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte told reporters after a public grievance redressal hearing for Tiswadi on Thursday.
Services covering the entire State would come into force within 4 to 5 months. Different departments like Agriculture, Transport, etc will come on board through Goa Electronics Limited.
Revenue Department has also begun delivering online services free of cost. However, offline services, Khaunte said, are being charged at a nominal rate.
“All availing services offline from the CSC including Form 1 and Form 14 has seen a marginal increase in fee since 2010 year. The increase is in tune with the type of facilitation services being provided, time bound services, ensuring accountability, and avoiding repeated visits of applicants to office. However online public services are free of cost,” he said adding, “E-signature on form 1 and form 14 will also be available online at no cost.”
The government will also do away with the responsibilities of the certification process from talathis in the next one month. Goans who have all documents in place will now be allowed to do self attestation without the role of talathis and this would allow the common man to get the process cleared faster, he said.
In a bid to record the response of the people availing services, the department also intends to initiate a new service in 15 to 20 days. “A representative will be at the office of Collector and Deputy Collector to collect feedback of people moving out, to know the quality of service. It will be a click on smileys – a friendly app. If a person is unhappy with the service or needs improvement, the department will address his/her issues,” he stated explaining they aim at transparency in the department.
