The Congress party will announce its first list of candidate by January 10-12, next month post the Screening Committee headed by MP KC Venugopal meeting on January 4. Former Union minister Bhakta Charan Das and AICC secretary Deepak Bawaria are also a part of the screening committee.
Meanwhile, the Pradesh
Congress Election Committee led by Singh held its last meeting on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Faleiro, MLAs Digamber Kamat, Chandrakant Kavalekar and other party senior leaders.
“After January 4 we would be finalising our candidates and the first list will be out by January 10-12,” he added. The committee has received total 113 names of probable candidates, which consists of 60-70 percent new faces.
When asked about Mauvin Godinho and Pandurang Madkaikar joining BJP, Singh said “I am thankful to BJP and Manohar Parrikar for inducting them”. He said that these are the same BJP leaders who were shouting that Mauvin is corrupt, etc.
