PANJIM: Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim, in collaboration of Indian Society of Hematology and Blood transfusion, Goa Association of Resident Doctors (GARD), Goa Medical College Students’ Association and IMA (Indian Medical Association) Medical Students’ Network organised its first joint medical symposium on Friday, June 7 for 270 Medical Delegates.
The invited expert guest faculty included three distinguished alumni of GMCH namely Dr Reena Nair, Head, Clinical Hematology, Tata Medical Centre, Kolkata, Dr Riya Ballikar, Head, Clinical Hematology, KIMS Kingsway Hospital, Nagpur, and Dr Yamuna Naik, Assistant Professor, Clinical Hematology, CMC, Vellore, for the State Level Symposium on hot topics in Hematology such as research ideas in Hematology, Challenges in management of Thrombocytopenia and Approach to Management of Anemia.
Dr Riya Ballikar and Dr Frazer Rodrigues GARD President also conducted a Hematology Quiz for PG students.
Prof Dr S M Bandekar was the chief guest and GARD GMSCA MSN Advisor Dr Jagadish Cacodcar was the Coordinator of the Symposium.
The chairpersons for the sessions included Dr Vaishali Joshi, HoD Pediatrics, Dr Mohnarao Mallya, HoD Blood Transfusion Medicine and Dr Gauri Nilajkar, Associate Professor Medicine.
Arijit Kakodkar, President of IMA MSN Council, and Dr Vedant Pawar, General Secretary, GMCSA along with members of GARD GMCSA and IMA MSN actively worked to make the symposium successful.
