VASCO: Maurelio Paulo Luis Carvalho will make his entry into the Sancoale Village Panchayat for the first time, after defeating six-time panchayat member and former sarpanch Ramakant Borkar in Ward No 5.

digit mark. Soon after being declared elected, Carvalho credited his win to his voters and also to his father, who he recalled had represented the Sancoale Village Panchayat three decades ago.
He said that he won the election because he was well-connected with the people in the ward and he proved that a small person like him can become a “giant killer” in the elections.
Borkar had shifted to ward No 5 after his traditional ward was reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates.
He had then announced that he was contesting the panchayat elections bowing to the wishes of the people and that he wanted to complete the construction of the Panchayat Ghar in Sancoale, which was pending after the foundation stone was laid.
