On being appointed as the Referee-Assessor for the FIFA Under 17 Women’s Cup Maria Rebello expressed joy over the opportunity to represent India in the world cup. She added it was always her dream to play football in the World Cup, however, the team had previously never qualified for the world cup. Rebello is the first Woman referee from Goa to represent India on a large scale. The FIFA U-17 Women’s world Cup is slated to take place from October 11 onwards.
