CANACONA: A driver and a cleaner escaped with minor injuries, after a fish-laden truck turned turtle at Char-Rasta, Canacona, late Wednesday night, disrupting highway traffic till wee hours of Thursday.
According to police sources, the truck (KA-20-B-8413) which was proceeding towards Karwar turned turtle while crossing a speed breaker near Mallikarjun School gate at about 10.30 pm on Wednesday.
The truck driver is learnt to have lost control of the vehicle when he suddenly applied brakes on approaching the speed breaker and the vehicle turned turtle in the middle of the NH17, blocking the road. The driver and the cleaner escaped with minor injuries.
According to sources, the highway traffic came to a standstill, before police helped to divert the traffic proceeding to Margao from Char-Rasta via Devabhaga road and Margao-Karwar traffic was diverted at Gulem via Devabaga internal road.
A crane was requisitioned and the truck was removed and the traffic was restored early Thursday morning.
