PANJIM: Days after Fisheries Minister Vinod Palyekar sought the suspension of Fisheries Director Shamila Monteiro over the RFID tender issue, the Goa government on Monday transferred the officer as OSD to Director General of Police (DGP) Muktesh Chander.
The order was issued on Monday evening and the Fisheries Secretary has been given charge of the department in addition to his own duties.
Speaking to Herald, Palyekar said, “Instead of suspension she has been transferred to another department. Earlier I had recommended her suspension over the RFID tender. There are certain irregularities in RFID card allocations that were brought to my notice due to which the suspension was ordered.”
