Officials of the Fisheries dept reportedly locked the Malim Jetty gates at Betim, on Wednesday. Though the reasons were not exactly clear, it appeared that the Fisheries dept took the step in view of the multiple illegalities going on at the jetty, including non-registration of those operating from the jetty.
The locking of the gates led to all vehicles of customers who had gone to purchase fish getting locked inside the jetty compound. The gates were later opened.
