Fisherwomen moved inside Vasco fish market

VASCO: The fisherwomen who were vending fish outside the Vasco fish market shed due to poor business were moved inside the market on Wednesday.
Municipal Council Chairman Nandadeep Raut, three councillors and the chief officer convinced the fisherwomen to operate from inside the market.
Since last two days, many fisherwomen were conducting their business on the footpath and roadside outside the fish market shed.
This caused great inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists. Taking cognisance of the issue, Raut decided to meet the fisherwomen and enquire about their problems.
During a brief meeting with fisherwomen, Raut asked the leader of the fisherwomen Caridade Pereira why they chose to conduct their business outside the shed and they should immediately shift inside. To this, Pereira replied that many local fisherwomen are suffering loss in business as a wholesale vehicle comes at 11 am and in the evening at 6 pm and sell fish outside fish market shed.
After listening to the grievances, Raut assured to send the municipal inspectors to the fish market at 11 am to prevent wholesale vehicles from selling fish outside fish market. Later, at around 12 pm, all the fisherwomen willingly went inside fish market shed.
