VASCO: The boat and trawler owners from Kharewado jetty, Vasco, are hoping that their workers arrive in time in the State as the new fishing season started from August 1.
Former minister and All Goa Fishing Boat Owners Association President Jose Philip D’Souza said that a prayer ceremony will be held at Old Goa ahead of starting of the fishing season.
He demanded that the government should focus on renovating the dilapidated Kharewado jetty. D’Souza stated that they have started preparationsfor the coming fishing season by removing their nets even as labourers from Orissa and Jharkhand were yet to arrive. Referring to the Kharewado jetty, D’Souza said that Water Resources Department (WRD) has issued orders for its maintenance works and hoped that the jetty would be repaired and ready ahead of the fishing season.
