Five cows succumb to food poisoning

In a shocking incident, five cows including a pregnant Jersey cow were killed allegedly due to food poisoning at Arpora and Calangute.
Two cows each died due to poisoning at Arpora and Calangute, while a pregnant Jersey cow also died at Agar Vaddo, Calangute.
Francis Fernandes, owner of two and half year-old Jersey cow, filed a complaint with Calangute police, stating that futile efforts were made to save his animal with the help of officials and doctors from Animal Husbandry.
According to sources, tomatoes containing poison were planted in some fields at Agar Vaddo, Calangute. Fernandes has filed a complaint against the owner of the field.
Dr Veena Kumar conducted the autopsy on the animal and Calangute police is investigating the case.
