MARGAO: Several thousand litres of precious drinking water have been wasted over the past five days due to a damaged distribution pipeline in the middle of the road at the Housing Board at Gogol.
Despite the ongoing water seepage, authorities are yet to address the situation, causing significant inconvenience to locals.
The gushing water has flooded the main road, creating slushy, hazardous conditions for pedestrians and vehicles alike.
According to residents, it remains unclear whether the pipeline was damaged by construction workers involved in nearby projects. In an attempt to mitigate the problem, some locals have tried to cover the pipeline with stones at two different places, but water continues to gush out, wasting thousands of litres.
The continuous flow of water from the middle of the tarred road has resulted in large potholes, further complicating the situation.
The residents now face difficulty in crossing the road, which has become increasingly dangerous due to the flooding.
The damage has left only a narrow space for vehicles to pass through, forcing drivers to wait at one end while others navigate the treacherous road conditions. The persistent leakage not only wastes valuable water but also poses a serious risk to the safety of the residents. Locals have urged the authorities to take immediate action to repair the damaged pipeline and restore normalcy to the area.
