Five deaths keep Ponda cops on toes

In the first incident, Pramod A Dhume (34) of Tamsodo-Dharbandora died on the spot when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a truck (GA-09-U-910) at Tisk-Usgao. Police said Dhume was proceeding from Dharbandora towards Tisk-Usgao and had been negotiating a number of trucks along the route.
In the second incident, an elderly pedestrian also died on the spot when a Maruti SX4 car, driven by Sanket R Mule of Dhavali-Ponda, knocked him down at Dhavali. Dinkar V Gaetonde (76) had gone for an evening stroll and was crossing the road, when he was fatally knocked down.
In the third case, Augustino P Antao of Khandepar, who was seriously injured when a two-wheeler struck him on February 5, passed away at the GMC hospital in the morning.
The fourth case was registered when Chandrakant Gaude of Bethora-Ponda died at the GMC hospital, after sustaining grievous injuries following a fall from a coconut tree on February 5.
In the fifth incident, a truck driver Niranjan Sharma (45), a native of Jharkhand but residing at Tisk-Usgao, was found dead at Tisk-Usgao.
