PANJIM: The Crime Branch, Cyber Crime and both the district police teams in a joint raid arrested five persons on the charges of possession, storage and dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) through social media across the State.
The raid was conducted under ‘Operation Suraksha’. The accused have been identified as Salman Khan of Chimbel, Mahender Singh of Betim, Pranit Volvoikar from Davorlim, Lemon Islam and Nitin Redkar, both from Calangute.
“The distribution, possession or creation of CSAM is a serious criminal offence with severe legal consequences, and its existence perpetuates the exploitation and trauma suffered by innocent children. All citizens are urged to refrain from viewing any such content and report ASAP,” stated an advisory issued by Goa Police.
